It is a good tradition to open the Cannstatter Volksfest with an official barrel tapping.Stuttgart's Lord Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper takes on this task at the largest festival in the state of Baden-Württemberg. This year, the official opening ceremony will take place in the "Grandl's Hofbräu-Festzelt" of the festival landlord Marcel Benz.

Only after the successful tapping of the keg does the serving of beer begin in all festival tents and restaurants. Firecrackers at the fruit column and beadles with bells announce that the barley juice can flow into the mugs.

Wonderfully colorful traditional costume groups and bands, rural representations, historical groups and vigilantes from all over the country and far beyond parade with more than 3,500 participants from the Cannstatter Kursaal to the Cannstatter Wasen.

On VVS-Day, VVS-passengers can save money at the Volksfest. Many showmen grant discounts on presentation of a valid ticket.

Wednesday, October 02 and 9, 2024, from 12 am

Family-friendliness is a top priority at the Wasen. The popular family days have long been a tradition: many showmen, innkeepers and market traders offer reduced prices on their attractions all day long.

There are also numerous surprises in store for the little Wasen fans. Whether it's stilt walkers, balloon artists, the fairytale carousel, glitter tattoos or the wheel of fortune - there's certainly never a dull moment at the fair.

For the finale of the Cannstatter Volksfest, multiple pyrotechnics world champion Joachim Berner transforms the sky above the Wasen into a sea of lights and colors.The fireworks display lasts more than ten minutes and is accompanied by a rousing medley of well-known hits.
